New Haven, CT (Apr. 10, 2012) – Men's tennis got back to its winning ways on Tuesday.

The Panthers, which fell in their last outing before Spring Break, returned to action and soundly defeated host Albertus Magnus, 8-0. Purchase had won six straight before the loss to Mount Saint Mary and now has won seven of eight to improve to 7-2 on the spring.

Purchase not only swept the competition, but dominated throughout, not allowing a single point in doubles play as all three pairings won 8-0. Brenden Keeling (JR/Ontario, Canada) and Ben Ekis (SR/Rochester, NY) topped Tim Gabbard and Richard Mitchell at No. 1; Jeremyah Schur (FR/Forest Hills, NY) and Michael Sorge (FR/Bronx, NY) coasted past Riker Mitchell and Heath Henderson at No. 2 and Roger King* (JR/Yonkers, NY) and Chris Matchneer (JR/Larchmont, NY) finished off the doubles weep at No. 3.

Singles produced much of the same. Playing at first singles, Keeling earned a 6-0, 6-0 win against Gabbard. No. 2 Schur topped Mitchell 6-2, 6-0 and King blanked Mitchell in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).

Sorge was masterful at No. 4, downing Henderson 6-0, 6-0, while Matchneer jumped into singles at No. 6 and also sailed 6-0, 6-0. Ekis and his match against Elvis Santana went unfinished at No. 5, with the match well decided, as rain cut short play.

Purchase will now return to action Thursday at home on Senior Night. The Panthers welcome rival NYU-POLY for a 5 p.m. start.
