Newburgh, NY (Apr. 14, 2013) – Mount Saint Mary topped Purchase 5-4 Saturday, improving to 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the Skyline Conference.

The tough loss drops Purchase to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.

Stat Willand picked up two key wins for the Knights. Teaming with Mike Balokoz at second doubles, the pair won 8-4.  Willand won his third singles match in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). Balokoz also picked up a win at fourth singles with a score of 6-3, 6-0. 

The Knights sealed the victory when Connor Bean battled his way through his sixth singles match by a score of 7-5, 7-5.

Purchase started strong, winning first and third doubles. Jeremyah Schur (SO/Forest Hills, NY) and Brenden Keeling (SR/Ontario, Canada) won 8-5 at No. 1 and Simon Lai (SR/Garrison, NY) and Pocholo Chavez (JR/Stony Point, NY) earned an 8-5 win at No. 3.

Schur and Keeling would also win their singles matches, but MSMC's singles powered its victory on Saturday, as the Knights captured wins at No. 3-6, which coupled with the lone doubles win at No. 2 provided the 5-4 final.
