Purchase, NY (Apr. 6, 2013) – The Purchase College men's volleyball team honored three seniors on Senior Day today, as the program hosted its annual spring tournament.

Max Lenik (SR/Suffern, NY), Alex Billen-Calhoun (SR/Niskayuna, NY) and Taylor Edelmann (SR/Bethel, CT) were all recognized prior to the early 10 a.m. match. The trio received certificates from the SID Department during a brief pre-match ceremony MCed by Sports Information Director Bobby Ciafardini.

Lenik, a first-year player, joined the program this spring and made a nice contribution in his lone campaign. Meanwhile, Billen-Calhoun, a two-year standout, established himself as one of the finest setters in the conference, joining Edelmann, another two-year standout and team leader, as the anchors for this year's rebuilding squad. The two have provided foundation for future incoming recruits, paving the way for the team's postseason return in years to come.

Unfortunately, Purchase would drop its two matches on the day, falling to NYU-POLY 25-15, 25-23, 25-19 in the opener and 25-14, 25-18, 25-11 in the second match to Sage.

Against NYU-POLY, Kevon Kareem Bruce (JR/Hayes, Jamaica) led the way with nine kills. Edelmann, who played well in his final home matches, recorded eight kills and a match-high 11 digs. Billen-Calhoun handed out 19 assists.

For NYU-POLY, the Jays were paced by Fild Kroqi and his match-high 15 kills. Rishi Sarkar contributed 26 assists.
In the second match of the day, Kareem Bruce stayed hot and netted 11 kills, once again leading Purchase, while Billen-Calhoun totaled 15 assists in his final home match.

Sage had a balanced attack, led by Andy Fishman and his eight kills. The Gators finished with 37 kills as a team. Kyle Ray recorded an impressive 29 assists in the win for Sage.

Sage also defeated Ramapo 3-1 and Ramapo defeated NYU-POLY 3-0 in the other two matchups on the afternoon.

The Panthers will conclude the season with one more match, traveling to Yeshiva on Apr. 9.
