Purchase, NY 
(Feb. 24, 2014) – Despite a furious comeback in sets three and four, the Purchase men's volleyball team suffered a 3-2 loss to Lehman College Monday evening.
	Set scores for the match in favor of the victorious Lightning were 25-22, 25-22, 17-25, 30-32, 15-11.
	The loss dropped Purchase to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in Skyline Conference play, while Lehman moved to 5-6 overall and 2-3 in CUNYAC action.
	The Panthers opened the match a little flat as Purchase quickly fell behind early in the opening set. Purchase went on to commit eight errors in the first set to hit .058, dropping the set, 25-22.  
	Set number two followed a similar path as the Panthers dug an early 0-6 hole. 
	
	After a timeout called by head coach Tom Callahan, Purchase returned to the court and rattled off a quick eight points to bring the score to an 8-8 tie. The Panthers could not hold the hot streak for long as they dropped the set, 25-22.  
	Down 2-0 at the break, it was Purchase's turn to bolt out to a lead in the third set.  The Panthers jumped out to a 7-4 edge, then cruised to a 25-17 win. 
	
	Kevon Kareem Bruce (SR/Hayes, Jamaica) shined in the third set, delivering three kills on six swings. Bruce was also the match leader in digs, totaling 59 in his efforts.
	Kevin Carges (FR/Brockport, NY) took control of the fourth set with a combined eight kills on 14 swings. Purchase hit a match-high .263, sending the match to a deciding fifth set with a 32-30 win.  
	The decisive set was back-and-forth as Lehman built an 8-5 edge, but Purchase rallied to a 12-11 advantage. Knotted at 12-12, the Lightning took control of the game, scoring the next three points to take the match, 15-11.  
	Carges led the way for Purchase with 21 kills in the match, while Andrew Schwab (FR/Merrick, NY) posted a team-high 30 assists and 30 digs. 
	
	Riley Damerell (FR/Rochester, NY) contributed for another 17 assists and 28 digs. Chris Lynch (SR/East Islip, NY) excelled on the defensive end with a match-high eight total blocks.     
	
	For the visitor's, Jaleel Lino led the Lightning with 40 digs and was match-leader with 26 kills.
	Purchase returns to action on Sunday, Mar. 2 as the Panthers host Kean, Ramapo and Yeshiva University in a quad-match starting at 10 a.m.
