(Apr. 1, 2014) - The Purchase men's volleyball team took on the Yeshiva University Maccabees and emerged victorious with a 3-0 shutout.
The Panthers won with set scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-23.
Despite being on a three game losing streak prior to tonight's contest, Purchase had enough momentum from senior night to get back on track.
Kevon Kareem Bruce (SR/Hayes, Jamaica), one of the soon to be graduates, took some air out of the ball on his first kill of the third set, but Yeshiva came right back, taking a 10-5 lead early in the final stanza. The Panthers did, however, come back to take the lead and win the set 25-23.
Bruce finished the match with 17 kills and 19 digs.
The other honoree of the night,
Chris Lynch (SR/East Islip, NY), collected one kill and four digs.
Kevin Carges (FR/Brockport, NY) had a strong showing defensively, contributing a game-high 23 digs, two block assists and totaled eight kills for good measure.
Riley Damerell (FR/Rochester, NY) tallied six kills, 21 digs and 11 assists.
Andrew Schwab (FR/Merrick, NY) contributed with 23 assists and 19 digs.
In defeat, Jared Rechnitz had a team-high nine kills and 11 digs and Adam Rhodes added 23 assists for the Maccabees.
The Panthers will travel to Mahwah, NJ on Sunday for a tri-match at Ramapo College.
