(Apr. 19, 2014) – Farmingdale State posted a pair of wins over Purchase on Senior Day Saturday.
The Rams won 8-1 and 7-3, respectively. FSC improved to 19-11 and 10-4 in the conference. The Panthers are now 7-17 and 1-13 in the league. It was Senior Day for third baseman Dallas Anderson and shortstop Hillary Genova.
In game one, the Rams went up 2-0 in the first and added four more runs over the next two innings to hold the 6-1 lead. In the fifth, catcher Meagan Anderson hit a two-run homer to make it 8-1.
Farmingdale State's junior pitcher Taylor Tedeschi struck out eight with no walks to improve to 8-7 on the year.
Trailing 3-1 after four in game two, the Rams used a six-run fifth inning to grab the 7-3 lead and eventual win. Genova scored the first run with a single to left, before the Rams knocked in two more runs with a single to center.
Junior pitcher Taylor Webb allowed four hits and one walk, while striking out 10 to improve her record to 9-4.
For the Panthers,
ToniAnn Licata (JR/Mount Kisco, NY) had a hit and two RBIs in game two.
Christine Leo (SR/Monroe, CT) had two hits in the opener and
Juliet-Rain Pagan (SR/Bronx, NY) had a hit in each game to go along with an RBI in the opener.
Purchase is back in action Monday and Tuesday, closing the season in a pair of non-conference twin bills.
