New York, NY (Apr. 2, 2014) – Softball lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader to Hunter College on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island.

The Hawks won the first game, 6-5, and completed the sweep with a 5-2 victory in the second game.

With the loss, Purchase drops to 3-5 overall.

In game one, first baseman Christine Leo (SR/Monroe, CT) and pitcher ToniAnn Licata (JR/Mount Kisco, NY) each homered, as the Panthers put a scare into the Hawks.

Game two followed with the same suit, when Leo hit a triple to leadoff, and then scored on a single by Licata in the first inning. Licata later earned her second homer of the afternoon, totaling four hits and four RBI, while Leo went 4 for 6 with two RBI.

Panthers starter Nicole Fortuna (FR/New Rochelle, NY) held the Hawks in check for the first four innings of game two, only allowing a line-drive homer in the bottom of the fourth.

In the fifth, the Hawks broke down Fortuna, scoring four runs on five hits.

Briana Kresback would then plate McGoldrick with a single and Taylor Crofts would plate McGoldrick with a double to make the score 4-1. Meghan O'Shea doubled in Crofts to make the score 5-1.

Hawks starter Sara Beck had her second consecutive strong outing, picking up her second win of the season. She scattered five hits while only giving up two runs and striking out seven.
