(Feb. 5, 2015) – Backed by another strong offensive game from
Troy Singleton, the Purchase College men's basketball team defeated Sarah Lawrence 79-51 at Noyes Court at Campbell Sports Center on Thursday night.
Sarah Lawrence (1-18, 0-13 Skyline) posted its fourth-best shooting percentage of the season but was unable to overcome the tough defense of Purchase (6-13, 6-6 Skyline).
Singleton (JR/Queens, NY) scored a game-high 20 points, followed by
Justin Person (SR/Greenburgh, NY) with 12 and
Creig Graves (JR/Harlem, NY) with 10 points.
Nicholas Jackson (JR/Brooklyn, NY) recorded a game-high six rebounds.
SLC took an early 10-8 lead and later tied the game at 11-11.
Purchase went on a run late in the first half, and the Gryphons cut the gap to six at 37-31 before PC pulled away for good.
Jeff Jordan II led the Gryphons with eight points in the first half and went on to score a team-high 11 points while dishing out a game-high four assists. SLC captain Graham Gilleran scored six second-half points to total eight on the day, matching his season-best with three blocks.
The Panthers return to action Saturday against Farmingdale State at home. Tip is set for 2 p.m. and is part of a Purchase doubleheader. The Panther women will face CMSV at noon.
