(March 22, 2015) – The Purchase College men's tennis team notched its first win of the 2015 season with a 9-0 sweep of Brooklyn College at the Roosevelt Courts on the BC campus on Sunday.
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead after shutting out the Bulldogs in doubles action. The Panthers' momentum from doubles action would carry into singles play, as the visitors would take on six flights en route to the 9-0 shutout win.
At second and third singles,
Dylan DeBiase (SR/High Falls, NY) defeated Charles Stevens, 6-4, 6-2, and
Cedric Bluman (SR/Tarrytown, NY) swept Jonathan Chevinsky, 6-0, 6-1, respectively.
The match of the day was at the top, as Elliot Haddad and
Riley Damerell (SO/Rochester, NY) played to a third set tiebreaker. Haddad took the opening set 6-3, while Damerell bounced back to take a 6-3 win in the second. Damerell would complete his comeback win, taking the third set tiebreaker 10-6.
Purchase returns to action this Wednesday with a road match against Yeshiva University.
