(March 25, 2015) – The Purchase men's tennis team dropped its Skyline Conference opener, 7-2, to Yeshiva University at the Binghamton Raquet Club on Wednesday.
The Maccabees swept doubles action as they led the Panthers, 3-0, heading into singles play.
Riley Damerell (SO/Rochester, NY) lost his first match of the season to Yeshiva's David Papis Elon, 6-0, 6-4, at the No. 1 singles spot, while
Cedric Bluman (SR/Tarrytown, NY) and
Taimu Tomita (FR/Higashiyama, Japan) earned the two lone wins for Purchase at fourth and sixth singles. Bluman defeated Igal Mostkov, 6-4, 7-6, while Tomita battled Robby Rubin to a 2-4,6-4, 1-0 (10-8) victory.
With the loss, the Panthers drop to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in the Skyline, while Yeshiva improves to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the league.
Up next, Purchase gets ready to host its home opener against Farmingdale State beginning at noon.
