(March 28-29, 2015) – Purchase College men's volleyball wrapped up Skyline Conference play with four matches over two days. The Panthers traveled to Sarah Lawrence College for a tri-match on Saturday and ended the weekend with a tri-match at Yeshiva on Sunday.
Purchase split both days, going 2-2 on the weekend and advancing their record to 9-17 overall and 4-10 in the league.
On Saturday, Purchase opened with a 3-0 loss to No. 5 Kean University (24-3, 10-0 SKY). After dropping three straight sets for a line score of 25-15, 25-13, 25-12, the Panthers rallied back for a 3-0 win against Sarah Lawrence(0-16, 0-11 SKY) in the second match of the day. Sophomore ace
Kevin Carges (Brockport, NY) led the Panthers against Sarah Lawrence with a match-high eleven kills off 19 attempts for a .474 attacking percentage while totaling an impressive five service aces.
Andrew Schwab (SO/Merrick, NY) added in five kills off five total attempts without a single error.
Kevin Egbert (JR/Saratoga Springs) rallied the offense with a match-high 20 assists and chipped in on defense with seven digs.
On Sunday, the Panthers battled for a 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 25-18) win over Yeshiva (6-16, 2-11 SKY) and later lost 3-1 to New Jersey City University (17-9, 9-4 SKY) with a line score of 25-13, 25-15, 15-25, 25-14.
Carges and Schwab were at it again for Purchase in the opening match. Carges totaled a season-high 33 kills and 11 digs while Schwab also tallied a season-best with 14 kills and 12 digs. Egbert assisted on 43 of the team's 54 total kills.
Matthew McCarthy (JR/Fayetteville, NY) chipped in with 11 digs for the defense.
Against NJCU, Carges and Schwab led both sides with 17 and 12 kills, respectively while McCarthy tallied another 10 digs.
Purchase wraps up the 2015 season at home on Monday. The Panthers host the College of Staten Island at 7:30 p.m.
