(March 30, 2015) – Behind two home runs from
Mary Adams, the Purchase College softball team dismantled Lehman College 15-3 Monday on the road.
Following a no-contest in the opener, the Panthers (4-7) and Lehman (2-3) played the second game of the originally slated doubleheader and the visitors jumped on the board with four runs. The Lightning would score two in the bottom of the first, but Purchase opened things up with two more in the second and a huge nine-run inning in the fifth en route to the 15-3 victory on the South Field.
The Panthers collected 10 hits on the day, including three from Adams (SO/Milton, PA). Adams (pictured above) homered twice and was followed in the long ball department by teammates
Alexandra Prescia (JR/Staten Island, NY) and
Samantha Alonzo (JR/Wappingers Falls, NY). Prescia and Alonzo also homered. Prescia and Adams would both finish with three hits and four RBI apiece. Alonzo added two RBI and collected the win in the circle.
Briana Leon (SO/Glen Cove, NY) added two RBI of her own, while
Alyssa Delgado (JR/Rockland, NY) and
Nicole Fortuna (SO/New Rochelle, NY) each contributed one RBI.
Lehman's Meghan Bravo drove in all three runs for the Lightning. In the circle, Bravo took the loss to fall to 2-3. She pitched a complete game, giving up 13 earned runs, while striking out four hitters.
The Panthers will now return to action following Spring Break.
