(April 9, 2015) – The Purchase College men's tennis team was forced to return to Western Connecticut State University today to complete its match that was halted by rain on Wednesday. It was worth the Panthers' trip up I-684 as they defeated the Colonials, 8-1 in a non-league match at Westside Courts.
On Wednesday, the Panthers captured each of the three doubles' matches before a light rain postponed the meeting until today.
Sophomore Daniel Winter earned Western's lone win by defeating
Taimu Tomita (FR/Higashiyama, Japan), 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 at number five singles.
Purchase, now 3-2, won five singles' matches in straight sets including Dylan Debiase's (SR/High Falls, NY) 6-1, 6-0 win over Romney Tiru at second flight solos.
Cedric Bluman (SR/Tarrytown, NY) matched that outcome by defeating Benjamin Cortez, 6-0, 6-1 at fourth singles.
Purchase heads to Sarah Lawrence on Saturday for a Skyline Conference match starting at noon.
