(April 2, 2015) – The Purchase College men's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to Ramapo College, 5-4, Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Panthers fall to .500 at 2-2 overall.
The close match included Purchase wins at No. 1 doubles and first, fourth and fifth singles.
Riley Damerell (SO/Rochester, NY) and
Dylan DeBiase (SR/High Falls, NY) defeated Jacob Khodakov and Justin Bevilacqua, 8-5, in doubles action and Damerell went on to win at No. 1 singles with a score of 6-3, 6-3, respectively.
Cedric Bluman (SR/Tarrytown, NY) defeated Bevilacqua at the No. 4 singles spot, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8, to remain undefeated on the season in singles play.
Chisei Tomita (FR/Higashiyama, Japan) capped off the points for Purchase with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Adam Petrovics at sixth singles.
Willen Feygin posted the first point for Ramapo in singles action defeating DeBiase, 6-0, 7-5 at the No. 2 spot. Mike Abelev got a point for the Roadrunners at third singles posting a 6-0, 6-1 victory, before Mike Friedman got the final point for Ramapo in singles action in the 5th position downing
Taimu Tomita (FR/Higashiyama, Japan) 6-2, 6-1.
Purchase returns to action after the break with a non-conference road match at Western Connecticut State University on April 8.
