(April 23, 2015) – Purchase saw its seven match win streak and season come to a close with a 5-1 loss to No.3 seed Farmingdale State in the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Thursday afternoon.
The No. 2 seeded Panthers conclude the 2015 season with an overall record of 9-3 and 5-2 in the league, while the Rams advance to 10-4 overall, 5-2 in the league, and are set to play the top-seeded Yeshiva University in the Skyline Championship match on Sunday.
The Rams jumped out to an early lead, sweeping all three matches in doubles action. Chris Hunter and Kevin Palacios defeated
Riley Damerell (SO/Rochester, NY) and
Dylan DeBiase (SR/High Falls, NY), 8-6, at No. 1 doubles while Tyler Danzy and Marvin Beaubrun tallied an 8-6 win at the No. 2 spot. Aravind Mahalingam and Karuppiah Karuppiah rounded out the doubles scoring with an 8-3 third doubles victory.
Rookie ace
Cedric Bluman (SR/Tarrytown, NY) notched the first point for Purchase after defeating Dan Baruch, 6-0, 6-1, at the No. 4 singles spot. Bluman concludes his rookie campaign with a perfect 11-0 undefeated singles record.
The Rams rallied back with wins at second and fifth singles, earning the 5-1 victory to end the match.
