Brooklyn, NY (Mar. 22, 2017) – The Purchase College men's tennis team opened up the 2017 portion of their season with a 9-0 shutout victory over Brooklyn College on Tuesday. 
Highlighting the singles competition was senior captain Riley Damerell's performance at the No. 1 spot.  Damerell battled Michael Dozortsev to a 7-6, 6-4 victory.

In doubles action, Damerell teamed up with senior Joseph Troop (Yonkers, NY) and defeated Dozortsev and Julian Calame-Mars, 8-4, at the No. 1 mark. Senior Danny De La Cruz (Bronx, NY) and freshman Isaac Jones (Ossining, NY) notched an 8-2 win at second doubles, and Finbar Stuart (SO/Woodstock, NY) and (FR/James Ham/Rye, NY) rounded out the Panther scoring with an 8-0 shutout at the No. 3 spot.

Purchase is now 2-0 on the season and will return to action Thursday evening for a road match at Skyline Conference foe Yeshiva University.
