(Mar. 24, 2017) – The Purchase College men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to Yeshiva University in the Skyline Conference opener at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Thursday evening.
Yeshiva won all three doubles flights and won five out of six singles contests. Senior David Papis Elon and sophomore Mikey Ozery led off with a win at No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Siblings, senior Eitan Rudansky and freshman Avidan Rudansky, teamed up to win the third doubles position by the same score. Sophomore Adam Rosemb;laum and freshman Lior Brik rounded up doubles play with a narrow win at the No. 1 flight, 8-6.
In singles, Rosemblaum cruised to a win at the No. 2 position, 6-1, 6-1. Brik continued Yeshiva's momentum by dominating at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Ozery and his opponent split the first two sets in the third singles flight, 6-0, 4-6. The reigning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year earned the third set tiebreaker, 10-6, to clinch the win. Papis Elon won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2, while Avidan Rudansky won the sixth singles battle, 7-5, 6-1.
Purchase picked up its only win at fifth singles after rookie
James Ham (FR/Rye, NY) battled to a 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 tiebreaker win.
Up next, the Panthers are set to host Farmingdale State on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
