Box Score PATCHOGUE, NY – The No. 2-seeded Purchase College men's volleyball team was upended by top-seeded St. Joseph's College (L.I.) in three sets in the Skyline Conference Championship match at the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.
The host Golden Eagles recorded with set scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 25-16, en route to their second-straight championship title and the Skyline's automatic bid to next week's 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship. The tournament's 14-team field will be announced Monday at 10 a.m.
Junior opposite Matthew Amberge put down a match-best 14 kills on .632 hitting to lead SJC to victory on Saturday. The Golden Eagles hit a solid .412 (38-10-68) on the afternoon, including a 9-1-18 line by junior outside hitter Paul Curaro. Senior setter Tyler Jones dished out 29 assists, while also registering two solo blocks and as many service aces.

Jeremiah Huntt (Bronx, NY) capped his stellar rookie campaign with a team-best seven kills for the Panthers. Senior setter
Andreo Otiniano (Mamaroneck, NY) combined for six points (2 aces, 2 blocks, 3 kills) and 11 assists, while junior middle blocker
Thomas Slomka (Orchard Park, NY) recorded a team-leading three blocks. Purchase's lone senior,
Luke Kubisch (Delmar, NY), closed out his collegiate career with two kills and three digs.
Despite the loss, Purchase reached a men's volleyball milestone this season— the first team in program history to advance to the Skyline Championship match.
The Panthers conclude their 2019 campaign with an overall record of 13-16 (7-3 Skyline).
