PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's tennis team continued its impressive start to the 2019 season Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers topped United States Merchant Marine Academy, 6-3, in a Skyline match.

With the win, Purchase is now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Meanwhile, Merchant Marine fell to 4-1 and 2-1.

After dropping the first doubles contest of the day, the Panthers responded by winning the final two doubles matches and the first three singles contests to grab the five wins necessary to secure the win. 

The duos of Courage Crawford (FR/Larchmont, NY) and James Ham (JR/Rye, NY) topped their opponents, 8-4, in the No.1 spot, while Matthew Waterhouse (FR/Massapequa Park, NY) and Austin Schmitt (JR/ HIlton, NY) took third doubles, 8-5.

In singles, No. 4 Finbar Stuart (SR/Woodstock, NY) earned the first win, 6-2, 6-2. No. 6 Changhun Park (SR/Seoul, South Korea) and No. 1 Crawford also earned straight set victories.

No. 2 Waterhouse provided the final highlight for the Panthers, as the freshman outlasted his opposition in three sets by the scores of 7-5, 3-6 and 10-7.

Up next for Purchase is a quick turnaround, as the Panthers take on Yeshiva University tomorrow (April 7th). That match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
