PURCHASE, NY - Purchase College junior
Jorge Perdomo has been named the Skyline Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Perdomo (Bronx, NY) helped lead the Panthers to a pair of wins against St. Joseph's College-Long Island and Maritime College over the last seven days. During the stretch, he averaged 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists per game and shot 53.8% from the field.Â
In an 84-79 victory at St. Joseph's-Long Island on Feb. 5th, he scored a game-high 27 points, while going 10-of-17 overall and 6-for-12 on 3-pointers. The junior also chipped in five rebounds, two steals and two blocks.Â
Three days later, Perdomo finished with a team-high 19 points and shot 50% in a dominating 88-69 win over Maritime. With the victory, the Panthers officially clinched a birth in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament later this month.Â
The award was Perdomo's second in as many weeks, as he earned a spot on the Skyline Conference Honor Roll last week. For the season, he is averaging 17.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists per game and converting 49.1% of field goals and 37.2% from 3-point range.
As for the Panthers, the team is now 15-6 overall, 10-2 in the Skyline and still holds a two-game lead in the North Division over Manhattanville College. Up next for the squad are another pair of tough Skyline matchups, starting with Sarah Lawrence College on Feb. 11th at 8 p.m.Â
The Panthers will be looking to avenge an early-season overtime loss to the Gryphons that night. Three days later, Purchase will look to win the division as it hosts down-the-road rival, Manhattanville College, at 8 p.m.Â
