PURCHASE, N.Y. - Since May 2, 2019, the Purchase College men's tennis team has played just one game.
Luckily, that's about to change in a big way! After two-straight lost seasons due to Covid-19, the Panthers are set to play 14 games in 2022, not including potential playoff games.
The first of which is scheduled for later today (March 10th) at Brooklyn College at 4 p.m. Five days later, Purchase makes its home debut against John Jay College at 3:30 p.m.
Including the first two games, the Panthers open the 2022 campaign with five-straight non-conference matchups before starting Skyline Conference play on March 30th against Yeshiva University.Â
Finally, Purchase closes the year with back-to-back home games against Sarah Lawrence College and Mount Saint Mary College on April 27th and 30th, respectively.
One of those days will serve as Senior Day for the team, as the Panthers will bid farewell to
Julian Szuper (New York, NY) and
Simon Montalvo (Valencia, Spain).
As for the rest of the team, it's comprised of almost entirely new faces.
The only player that has ever suited up and played in a match for PC is
Ben Joory (JR/Port Washington, NY), and his lone performance came in 2020 during the team's only game that season.
While the faces on the court might be new, one consistent has remained in head coach
Jordan Snider, who will be back for his fifth season as leader of the Panthers.Â
The last time the Panthers played a full season back in 2019, they went 10-3 and made the Skyline Conference Playoffs.
