PURCHASE, N.Y. - Tonight marked a joyous occasion for the Purchase College swim teams, as they paid tribute to two graduating seniors in their tri-meet against Lehman College and York College.
Seniors Gabriel Schmid-Doyle (Canton, NY) and Matthias Schmidt (White Plains, NY) were honored with gifts and kind remarks from head coach Judy Anker, as well as Purchase College President Milly Peña.
The atmosphere was lively with cheers from friends and family, as they celebrated this swimming pair and their contributions.
In terms of results, the women dominated both matchups, while the men secured a victory against York but fell to Lehman.
Results
Leading the PC women was Victor Vyssotski, who claimed first place in both the 1000-free with a time of 16:03.87 and the 500-free in 7:38.62.
Kale Cahill also delivered a strong performance by winning the 200-free, while Paris Judy took first in the 200-IM.
On the men's side, senior Schmid-Doyle took first in the 1000-free with a time of 13:59.63. That mark bested his time of 14:43.83 from last season when the Panthers faced Lehman.
Fellow senior Schmidt posted a time of 2:31:58 in the 200-IM to secure another first-place finish for the Blue and Orange.
Another notable finish on the night included Daniel Karpf securing second place in the 200-free.
Up next for the Panthers will be final event of the year - the Skyline Conference Championships. This two-day event will take place on January 26th and 27th and will be hosted at Purchase College.
