PURCHASE, N.Y. - Purchase College Director of Athletics and Recreation Chris Bisignano is pleased to announce the hiring of
Jack Dignan as the new men's basketball head coach, it was announced Tuesday.
Dignan arrives at Purchase with a wealth of experience across the NCAA Division III landscape, as a coach, a player and as an administrator.
Most recently, he enjoyed a two-year stint as head coach at Alfred State College, where he more than doubled his team's win total in year two and was named the 2023-24 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year.
Additionally, Dignan coached two players to All-Conference honors, while leading the Pioneers to their first-ever playoff win last season.
Before Alfred, he served as an assistant coach for three separate D3 schools - Colby College, Clarkson University and Skyline Conference rival, Sarah Lawrence College from the years of 2016-22.
Before he was a coach, Dignan enjoyed a four-year playing career with SUNY Oneonta, serving as a captain, a SAAC representative and SUNYAC All-Academic Team each season.
He graduated from the Red Dragons in 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications. Four years later, he collected his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Clarkson.
As for the team Dignan will inherit in 2024-25, the Panthers finished last season with a 13-12 record, just missing the Skyline Conference playoffs.Â
Outside of his duties as head coach, he will be tasked with overseeing a group of first-year athletes as a mentor, helping them adjust and succeed in their first year at Purchase.
