KINGS PARK, N.Y. – The Purchase College cross country teams competed Friday morning at the SJNY Invitational, held at Sunken Meadow State Park hosted by St. Joseph's University-Long Island. The meet featured more than a dozen Skyline and regional teams in one of the final meets before the Skyline Conference Championships.
Flora Parker-Myers (FY/Kingston, NY) continues to lead the way for the Panthers this season, finishing 14th overall with a time of 22:00.5 in the 5K race. Senior Victor Vyssotski (SR/Tarrytown, NY) followed close behind in 22:28.0 for 20th place. Mel Harper (SR/Patchogue, NY) and Madeline Ortiz (SO/Yonkers, NY) crossed together in 29:06, while Isabella Pizza (SR/Warwick, NY) rounded out the top five at 30:05.9. Senior Helen Huang clocked 44:07.0 to round out the team.
The Purchase women finished 12th overall.
On the men's side, Alexander Carbo (JR/Hopedale, MA) led Purchase with a 33:58.1 finish, followed by Reece Grieshaber (SO/Fairport, NY) in 36:24.5 . Timo Berry (5th year/Albany, NY) clocked 41:02.7, while Kevin Sanguina (SO/Patterson, NY) and Christian Barragan (SR) rounded out the scoring at 41:55.1 and 43:26.7, respectively.
The men placed 13th overall in the 8K.
Up next, the Blue and Orange return to their home course to host the Skyline Conference Championships on October 27.
