PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2025 season on Saturday morning, debuting a new home course at the annual Purchase College Invitational. The meet featured a competitive field of 19 teams, with over 150 athletes competing on the men's side and more than 140 in the women's race.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
First year Flora Parker-Myers (Kingston, NY) paced the Panthers with a 26th-place finish in 17:57.4. Victor Vyssotski (SR/Tarrytown, NY) was close behind with 18:14.0. Following Vyssotski was Mel Harper (JR/Patchogue, NY) with 22:44.5, Isabella Pizza (SR) with 24:03.1 and Madeline Ortiz (SO/Yonkers, NY) with 24:41.5 to complete the scoring for Purchase.
The Blue and Orange placed ninth out of 15 teams, while the Coast Guard Academy swept the top 10 spots to take first place with a perfect score of 15 points.
MEN'S RESULTS
On the men's side, Sophomore Reece Grieshaber (Fairport, NY) led Purchase, placing 63rd overall in 24:07.4. Alexander Carbo (JR/Hopedale, MA) clocked in at 27:01.7, followed by Timo Berry (5th year/Albany, NY) at 30:43.7, Kevin Sanguina (SO/Patterson, NY) at 37:18.9 and Christian Barragan (SR) at 37:57.5.
The Panthers placed 14th in the men's race, while the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy narrowly edged out Coast Guard by a single point to claim the team title
Up next, the Blue and Orange travel to Patchogue, NY for the Saint Joseph's University- Long Island Invitational on September 13th.
