Purchase, NY (Oct. 23, 2010) – The Panthers recognized the efforts of their “Fantastic Four” Saturday on Senior Day.

In a pre-game ceremony, Purchase Sports Information Director Bobby Ciafardini reflected on the college careers of the team's four graduating seniors. The program said goodbye to captain Luke Charbonneau, standout midfielder Sebastian Ribero, and top midfielders Andre Lentz and Alex Moskowitz.

The Panthers gave a valiant effort on Senior Day, honoring their teammates with a hard-fought matchup against the SUNY College at Old Westbury that ended in a tough 1-0 loss. The rival Panthers scored an early second half goal and held on for the reminder of regulation.

Purchase (1-13-2, 0-9-1 Skyline) played its most spirited defensive effort of the season, holding Old Westbury scoreless for nearly 60 minutes before the Panthers netted the eventual game winner.
Diego Mercado headed in a Scott Carey pass at 58:52, handing OW a lead it would not relinquish.
Purchase's best scoring chance came in the 80th minute when Charbonneau fired a direct kick, which OW's goalkeeper Darian Bryan made a brilliant save on. The high shot nearly found the top right of the goal before Bryan swatted it away to keep the shutout intact.

Before the game, Charbonneau (SR/Saratoga Springs, NY) was remembered for his leadership and his dedication as a captain. Ribero (SR/Brooklyn, NY) goes down as one of the best midfielders in program history. Lentz (SR/Brooklyn, NY) made an immediate impact on the roster in just one season as a Panther, and Moskowitz (SR/Mineola, NY) was remembered for his tireless dedication. He only missed one practice the past three seasons.

Purchase concluded its season in one of its best performances, fighting Old Westbury (12-7, 7-3 Skyline) to the end. OW, a team that could easily win it all, is now in second place in the conference standings.
