Wayne, NJ (Oct. 31, 2011) – The swim teams celebrated Halloween at William Paterson Monday night.

The hosts got the better of the spooky evening winning 89-78 on the men's side and 99-82 on the women's side. The non-conference power improved to 2-1 on the men's side, while the women are now 3-1. Purchase dropped to 0-2 on both sides following another tough non-conference matchup to open the season.

WP's men were led by Jason Koros, who was one of four double winners for the Pioneers. He touched first in the 200 IM. Teammate Brian Birkbeck finished first in 100 and 200. Edward Zappile won the 500 for the hosts.

Purchase's Christina Muller* (SR/Poughkeepsie, NY) took third in the 200 free as did Samir Mekrami (SO/Brooklyn, NY). Adam Alkilany (SO/Brooklyn, NY) came in third in the 50 free. Muller would later take second in the 100 free. Michael Zeffiro (SR/Brant, NY) scored a first-place finish in the 100 free.

The Pioneers were paced on the women's side by Sheri Brino, who finished first in the 500 and 1,000 frees. WP's Courtney Starace won the 100 fly and 100 breast, while Lauren Carney touched first in the 200 free.   

The Panthers will look to get back on track in conference this Friday, when they welcome CMSV for their league and home openers at Purchase. The meet kicks off at 6 p.m.
