(Nov. 8, 2011) – Rival Mount Saint Mary got the better of Tuesday night's Skyline Conference meeting with visiting Purchase.
In the process, the Mount earned its first league victory of the season. MSMC won 93-73 on the men's side and captured a 105.5-86.5 victory on the women's side.
The Knights were paced by senior Enrique Naudy, who was a triple winner. Naudy took home the 1000 freestyle (11:38.87), the 200 individual medley (2:12.21), and the 500 freestyle (5:16.86). Teammate Marc Bohlinger was victorious in the 50 freestyle (24.65) and the 100 backstroke (1:08.01). The Mount's Brianna Perazella, Censi Danner, Meghan Seaman were double individual event winners on the women's side.
As for the Panthers, the men were led by their 200 MR lineup, which includes
Samir Mekrami (SO/Brooklyn, NY),
August Cook (JR/Syracuse, NY),
Seth Feingersh (SR/Bayside, NY) and
Mike Zeffiro (SR/Brant, NY). The foursome came in first in the second event of the evening. Cook would later win the 200 freestyle as he continues his dominant start to the season. Late Monday night, he was recognized by the conference with an honor roll mention for league swimmer of the week.
The Panther women were paced by
Kamara Lewis (SO/Jamaica, NY), who took first in the 100 butterfly, and
Christina Muller (SR/Poughkeepsie, NY), who championed the 100 freestyle.
Patricia Fazzino (JR/Bayport, NY) would also grab a nice second-place finish in the 500 freestyle, which kept the Panthers in the meet late. Muller and Cook headlined for Purchase.
Muller, who like Cook garnered an HR mention this week, would later score a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, an accomplishment Cook matched as well.
The Panthers are now 1-3 overall (1-1 Skyline) and will look to rebound when they return to the pool next Monday at SUNY Maritime.
