Purchase, NY (Nov. 12, 2012) – Purchase College and SUNY Maritime traded overwhelming victories Monday night.

The Panthers earned their first win on the women's side this season, posting a dominant victory, which like the men's swim, was eventually turned exhibition down the stretch. The Privateers provided the same type of performance on the men's side.

Maritime won the combined score, 210-76, and the men's final, 121-65. Purchase took the women's meet 111-89.

With Purchase College President Thomas J. Schwarz looking on, the Purchase women jumped out to a 13-4 margin following the first event. Haley Ryan (FR/East Hampton, NY), Bianca Covello (SO/Woodstock, NY), Francesca Litz (JR/Liverpool, NY) and Kamara Lewis (JR/Jamaica, NY) handed Purchase a first-place win, taking the opening event in 2:05.77.

Maritime won the first men's event, garnering 15 points for an early lead on the men's side.

Panther standout Patricia Fazzino (SR/Bayport, NY) bested the field in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Teammate Kristina Moucha (FR/East Hampton, NY) placed second in the event.

An illness sidelined William Anderson (FR/Bloomingburg, NY) in the men's 1,000, paving the way for a big swing of points for Maritime.

Meanwhile, Ryan and Katherine Abrams (SR/Brooklyn, NY) coasted in the 200 freestyle, opening things up for the Panther women. Shortly later, Lewis won the 50-yard freestyle in 27.26.

The Maritime men took the 200 free and the 50 free before Litz, who earned a Skyline Conference honor roll mention on Monday, toppled the competition in the 200 IM.

The Privateers won events 10-12 and 14-16 forging forward on the men's side. In between, Litz and Lewis garnered individual wins. Litz was stellar in the 500 free and Lewis was equally impressive in the 100 free.

The final events were run exhibitions on both sides.

Fresh off two meets in four days, Purchase swim will now travel to Lehman College Friday, utilizing a three-day break to gear up for the non-conference matchup.
