Purchase, NY (Dec. 1, 2012) – William Paterson topped Purchase by a combined score of 199-174 in Saturday's swim.

The Pioneers, a strong out-of-conference opponent, won the women's event 104-93 and captured the men's swim 95-81. The visitors were dominant from the outset, jumping out to a strong lead, one that was too difficult for Purchase to overcome in the stretch.

Notable highlights for the Panthers included a third-place finish for Sydney Cohen* (JR/Oceanside, NY) in the 1,000-yard freestyle; a first-place finish for Kamara Lewis (JR/Jamaica, NY) in the 50 freestyle; and a first-place finish for Francesca Litz (JR/Liverpool, NY) in the 200 IM.  

On the men's side, captain Samir Mekrami (JR/Brooklyn, NY) and teammate William Anderson (FR/Bloomingburg, NY) also performed well in defeat.

The Pioneers were paced by Gabrielle Porcaro, who won the 1,000, and Alex Capenter, who also won the 1,000.

Purchase will look to regroup next Friday against CMSV in a 6 p.m. start at home.
