Purchase, NY (Dec. 14, 2012) – Capping off the 2012 year in grand fashion, the Purchase men's and women's swim teams won both their matchups in a tri-meet against Sarah Lawrence and Bard College Friday night at SLC.

The women defeated Sarah Lawrence, 56-39, and Bard, 77-15.

First-place finisher Francesca Litz (JR/Liverpool, NY) swept the Gryphons in the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard butterfly. Other notable events were the 1000-yard freestyle, where co-captain Patricia Fazzino (SR/Bayport, NY) took second-place. Teammate and fellow Panther standout Kamara Lewis (JR/Jamaica, NY) also captured a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle.

The women also took first in both the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.

On the men's side, second-place finishers Christopher Lynch (JR/East Islip, NY) (50-yard freestyle) and William Anderson (FR/Bloomingburg, NY) (100-yard backstroke and the 1000 and 500 freestyle events) helped bring the team to wins (59-36), (55-37) over both competitors, respectively.

The Gryphons kept the competition tight on both the men's and women's sides, while the Raptors were overwhelmed early in the meet and never recovered.

Finishing the first half of the season on a high note, the Panthers are kicking off the New Year in Puerto Rico. As in the past, the teams will train for their next matchup in January. Purchase will return to action at Brooklyn College on Jan. 18.
