Purchase, NY (Apr. 6, 2013) – A back-and-forth, nail bitter between Sage and Purchase came down to the final minutes Saturday.

The visiting Gators would prevail 8-7, upending Purchase with three second-half goals. The Panthers managed to tie the game repeatedly, but could not break the margin. Nonetheless, head coach Devon Whalen and many spectators expressed a measure of victory, despite the outcome, with Purchase – a first-year program – displaying its mettle in the slim defeat.

The two teams went into the half tied at 5-5, but Sage would outscore Purchase 3-2 over the final 30 minutes.

Sage improved to 4-7 overall and 3-3 in conference play, dropping the Panthers to 0-8, 0-6. Purchase is still searching for its first-ever win.

Phenom Samantha Rich (Providence, RI) led the way with four goals for the Panthers. Cat Viscardi (SO/ Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) added two and Sarah D'Andrea (SR/ Gaylordsville, CT), who flashed a brilliant move to the goal, recorded one on the afternoon – all proved valuable on a day when the game could have gone either way.

Alexa Pajak netted five goals for Sage in the win. Teammate Emily Stevenson tallied two and Lindsay Millett contributed one.

Goalkeeper Jess Lindsay (JR/Rochester, NY) turned away 14 shots for the Panthers, who have three games left, including next Thursday night's home finale on Senior Night against Kean.
