Box Score

Bronx, NY (Sept. 16, 2013) – Two-year starter Junior Sanguina and rookie Myles Clohessy each scored a pair of goals Monday, leading the Purchase men's soccer team to a dominating 4-1 road win at Lehman College.

The game, however, did not start out in favor of the Panthers.

Trailing Lehman 1-0 in the 30th minute, the Panthers finally broke through on a header into goal by Clohessy (JR/Cornwall, CT) off a free kick.  Clohessy was on the receiving end of a service by teammate Andrew Dyal (FR/Red Hook, NY) 30:59 into the match. This was Clohessy's third goal of the season.

From that point the floodgates opened and Purchase turned up the pressure for three more scores including a back-to-back goals by Sanguina (JR/White Plains, NY). The first was a header to near post, assisted by Wil Kauffman (FR/Broomall, PA) to end the first half.  Sanguina's second goal was scored by a penalty kick at 62:12.

With a under two minutes of play left, Clohessy scored the last goal of the game off a cross from Enderson Mhilli (SR/Rye, NY).

Goalkeeping ace Esteban Aguilar (SO/East Hampton, NY) recorded seven saves in net for his second career win.

Lehman midfielder Momar Thiam scored the Lightning's lone goal of the game on a rocket shot from 12 yards out. Midfielder Aleh Kazak earned the assist on the goal.

Purchase had a deciding advantage in shots in the match, 14-8 while having a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

The Panthers are back in action Thursday as they host the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence under the lights for a 7 p.m. start.
