(Dec. 13, 2014) – The Purchase College men's and women's swim teams concluded the first semester Saturday by taking both ends of a tri-meet on the men's side and splitting the women's side of action at Sarah Lawrence.
The Panther men defeated SLC and Bard College, while the women split, falling to SLC and defeating Bard at the Campbell Sports Center.
The Purchase men posted a 102-73 victory over SLC and a 103-56 win over Bard. The women lost 123-78 to the hosts and topped Bard 144-22.
Among the highlights of the afternoon,
Varun Soondar (SR/New Rochelle, NY) won the 1,000-yard freestyle;
Lorena Peralta (FR/Bronx, NY) bested the field in the 200 free; Soondar also won the 200 IM;
Carl Marsh (JR/Southampton, NY) took first in the 500 free;
Sam Jaffe (SO/Silver Spring, MD) swam to a first in the 100 breaststroke and the Panther relay teams concluded the strong showing with a pair of first-place finishes in the 200 freestyle relays.
Purchase will now train in Florida in early January before returning for the second half of the season.
