(Apr. 2, 2014) – The Purchase College women's lacrosse team put together a late spurt to defeat Sage, 9-7, in a Skyline Conference matchup Wednesday evening at John Fallon Field.
Midfielder
Annette Elson (JR/Las Vegas, NV) posted a season-first hat trick and led the Panther offense with three goals on five shots, two draw controls and one ground ball.
Purchase had a 5-2 lead over Sage at the half, but a Gator rally in the second had Purchase trailing 7-6.
At the 11:57 mark, Elson's third and final goal would tie the game at seven apiece.
LeiAnna Frazier (SR/Brooklyn, NY) scored the winning goal with less than 18 minutes on the clock to give the Panthers an 8-7 edge over the Gators.
Rebecca Small (SR/South Glastonbury, CT) added an insurance goal with her tally at 3:12.
Purchase also received single goals from

Mikaela Connors (SO/Grand Island, NY),
Samantha Rich (SO/Providence, RI) and
Maria Papp (SO/White Plains, NY).
Standout goalkeeper
Jess Lindsay (SR/Rochester, NY) earned the win for the Panthers after totaling 11 saves on 18 shots on net.
With the loss, Sage drops to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the league. The Gators were led by sophomore midfielder Kimberlee Carr with four goals to bring her season total to 22 goals and 22 points.
Purchase, now 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the Skyline, is set to host "Senior Day" against SUNY Old Westbury this Saturday at noon.
