(Oct. 31, 2015) – The Panther swim teams competed at Pace Saturday.
The hosts posted a 179-41 victory on the men's side, while the women earned a 227-48 win. Assumption, who also bested the Pace women, defeated Purchase 253-9 on the women's side.
Pace's Nianzhong Liu won both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly events on Saturday, nearly setting new school records in both races. He swam the 50 free in 21.57 seconds, missing the program mark by just 0.46. He finished the 100 fly in 51.77, falling just 0.44 short of Pace's all-time record. Freshman Cassandra Muldoon made an immediate splash in her first collegiate meet by setting the program's 200-yard breaststroke record with a first-place time of 2:27.74. She also finished first in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:14.87 to lead Pace.
In the loss,
Kristina Moucha (SR/Montauk, NY) and
Lorena Peralta (SO/Bronx, NY) performed well for the Panthers on the women's side, while the men were led by
Carl Marsh (SR/Southampton, NY) and
Robert Ashkinos (SO/Sparkill, NY).
The teams will be back in action on the road Nov. 5 in their conference openers against SUNY College at Old Westbury.
