(March 14, 2015) – Five goals in the first seven minutes set the tone Saturday for Purchase women's lacrosse on the road in PA.
The Panthers coasted to an 18-8 victory over Rosemont in a non-conference affair to roll to 2-0 on the early season. The loss dropped the Ravens to 1-1.
Purchase scored early and often en route to the win.
Trailing 5-0, the Ravens scored the next two goals from Nicole Goodwin and Kerry Hars to get back to within three goals, 5-2. The teams would alternate goals as the score reached 8-5 in favor of Purchase with 3:32 left in the first half.
The Panthers would end the half with three straight scores to take an 11-5 lead.
Purchase never looked back.
Zoe Hines (FR/Maplewood, NJ) scored six goals to lead the Panthers.
Madi Smith (FR/Lagrangeville, NY) and
Kelly Turtell (FR/Farmingdale, NY) also had big games, scoring four times and three times, respectively.
Samantha Rich (JR/Providence, RI) had five ground balls with
Jasmine Rippey (SR/Deansboro, NY) having two caused turnovers.
Purchase scored twice more within the first 1:16 of the second half to stretch their lead to eight, 13-5.
Sandwiched between three more scores from Rosemont, the Panthers would score the last four goals of the game to account for the final score.
Laura Bunyard led the Ravens with a hat trick, her first three goals of the season. Hars and Goodwin each scored twice in defeat.

Caitlin Sosa (JR/New York, NY) stopped half of Rosemont's 16 shots on goal to earn the win in goal.
Purchase is back home Wednesday to host USMMA in another non-conference meeting.
