Farmingdale State (April 25, 2015) – The Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 16-3 Skyline Conference victory over Purchase Saturday.
Senior's Emily Wolff, Nicole Marzocca, Mary Armstrong, Alyssa Handel, Christy Thoden, Kelly Geheran and Jackie Kennedy were each honored before the game for Senior Day.
Leading 3-1 with 17:51 remaining in the first half, Handel increased the Farmingdale State (9-6, 6-1) advantage to 4-1 as she scored off the pass from Geheran. Only 46 seconds later, Kristen Ranaldo tallied a score to put the Rams ahead by five. After a Kristen Keller free position goal, Handel responded with her third goal of the afternoon to give the Rams a 7-1 lead with 12:02 left in the half.
Farmingdale State scored four more times and took an 11-1 advantage into halftime.
Handel paced the hosts with five points on three goals and two assists.
Purchase sensation Zoe Hines (FR/Maplewood, NJ) scored all three goals for Purchase (11-3, 4-3).
Farmingdale State earned the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Skyline Conference Playoffs. The Rams will play host to No. 3 Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Panthers, seeded fourth, will travel to top-seeded St. Joseph's College-LI Wednesday.
