(Dec. 5, 2018) – Purchase College men's and women's swimming picked up non-conference losses at Brooklyn College Wednesday evening on Homecoming Night at the West Quad Center.
BC's women picked up their first dual meet win of the season, 98-54, while the men improved to 2-0 with a 94-49 victory over Purchase.
On the women's side, Brooklyn had a first place finish in nine of 11 events for the evening. BC began the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay with Melanie Deringer, Emily Yang, Leah Henry, and Sandy Wu picking up 11 points right away for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs had all top-three finishers in the 50-yard freestyle with Henry leading the way with a time of 33.02. Yang would finish first in the 100 yard breaststroke final with a time of 1:19.39.
The Brooklyn men dominated all evening, finishing first in all 11 events. BC had the top three finishers in the 100-yard breaststroke led by Thomas Wongwith a time of 1:03.48. Dorian Zaremba won the 100 yard backstroke in convincing fashion with a time of 1:00.60. Oleksii Dobrzhanskyi took the 50-yard freestyle final with a time of 30.36.
