PURCHASE, NY – The Purchase College men's swim team opened its 2019 home slate with a non-conference dual meet against the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College Wednesday evening.  

The Panthers fell by a score of 143-49, dropping their overall record to an even .500 (2-2) in defeat.

Results

George Weisner (JR/Bluffton, SC) earned a pair of second-place wins in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, clocking in a personal best of 1:04.68 in the latter event. Aidan Mauer (FR/Poughkeepsie, NY) earned the No. 3 spot in the 100-butterfly, setting a PR time of 1:04.84.

Panther rookie Aryell Beaulieu-Shaffer (FR/Chatham, NY) was next in line to score for Purchase after finishing second overall in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.87. Tristan Griffen (SO/Bridgehampton, NY) took third in the same event with a time of 32.78.

Nicholas Switalski (FR/Buffalo, NY) swam to a second-place finish in the 400-yard IM (5:40.62) and a third-place finish in the 100-yard free (1:03.35).

Beaulieu-Shaffer contributed again to the Panther scoring effort in the 100-yard backstroke. The Purchase newcomer hit the pad with a PR time of 1:07.92 to secure the No. 2 spot. Alexander Robinson-Gabel (SR/Silver Spring, MD) and Aidan Rivera (SO/Middletown, NY) capped the individual finishes for Purchase in the 100-yard breaststroke. Robinson-Gabel took fourth overall (PR 1:32.96), while Rivera finished fifth (1:36.60).

Purchase is back at home again next Tuesday (Nov. 12) to take on non-conference rival William Paterson University. Action will kickoff at 6 p.m.
