BRONX, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's swim team earned its first win of the season Monday, as the Panthers battled Lehman College and York College in a double-dual meet at Lehman's APEX Pool. 

Purchase defeated York 122-33 but fell 103-88 against the host Lightning. Lehman also won the head-to-head against York, 122-42. 

Nicholas Switalski (SR/Buffalo, NY) posted impressive first-place times in the 1000-yard freestyle (13:17.29) and 500-free (6:40.99) to lead the Panthers. With the help of teammates Daniel Karpf (JR/Floral Park, NY), Tyler Perpall (JR/Westbury, NY) and Mattias Schmidt (SR/White Plains, NY), Switalski capped the notable evening with first-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay (1:48.91).

Karpf, Schmidt and Jules Cabirol (SO/Riverdale, NY) also recorded top finishes for Purchase. Karpf bested the 50-butterfly competition with a time of 30.69.  Schmidt punched in a 100-breaststoke time of 1:11.16, while Cabirol hit the pad at 27.91 for the 50-free.

The Panthers look to keep the momentum going when they return to the pool after the Thanksgiving break. The team will play host to Skyline powerhouse U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.
