Lawrence Named New Men's Lacrosse Head Coach

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Director of Athletics Chris Bisignano is pleased to announce the hiring of Daniel Lawrence as the new head coach of the Purchase College men's lacrosse program.

Lawrence, who served as an assistant coach at Division I Monmouth University for the last three years, is the second-ever at the helm of the young Panther program. He replaces former skipper Michael Bocklet, who had been with the program since its start as a club team in 2015 and NCAA debut season in 2017.

Lawrence comes to Purchase with a decorated coaching career that spans nearly two decades. His journey began in 2003 at Division II Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C. He served two years as the head assistant coach of the Falcon lacrosse program before heading north to SUNY Maritime.

Lawrence spent eight years at the helm (13 total) of the Maritime men's team—making him no stranger to the Skyline Conference.

With Lawrence leading the way, the Privateer program had a complete turnaround. He inherited a small roster of 29 players—some with little to no playing experience—and in just a few short years had built a roster of 45 experienced and vetted recruits. Throughout his tenure, the team reached the Skyline postseason and 21 players earned All-Conference recognitions.

In 2018, Lawrence was offered the assistant position at Monmouth. He spent three years with the DI Hawk program, assisting with individual player development, recruiting, prospect days, equipment ordering and core value development.

Now, with NCAA Division I, II and III experience under his coaching belt, Lawrence is eager to begin the next chapter of his career and of the Purchase men's lacrosse program. The spring season will kick off with a scrimmage against Iona College's club team on Feb. 26 at noon.

Lawrence resides in Norwalk, CT with his wife Sarah and their two children, Noah and Molly.
