FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team capped their 2024 season with a third-place finish in the Skyline Conference after falling to Farmingdale State, 4-0, in the semifinals of the Skyline Conference Championship on Wednesday afternoon. With the result, the Panthers conclude the season with an 8-7 record, while the Rams advance to the final with an 11-5 record.
In doubles, Farmingdale took the lead with victories in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. At No. 1 doubles, the Panthers' duo of
Amelia Perlmutter (SO/Rutherford, NJ) and
Olivia Menchell (SR/Los Angeles, CA) were bested 6-0, while
Emma Arnaud (JR/Farmington, NY) and
Novalie Nguyen (JR/Macedon, NY) fell 6-0 at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match, featuring
Sierra Blanco (JR/New York, NY) and
Katelin Smith (SO/Slate Hill, NY), was unfinished with Purchase trailing 2-5.
In singles, Farmingdale's momentum continued. Menchell was defeated 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Nguyen fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4. Blanco, at No. 5, concluded the scoring with a 6-3, 6-3 loss. The remaining matches were left unfinished as the match result had been determined.
The Panthers will return to the court next year for their 2025 campaign.
